Ability to temporarily disable a layout container

I would like to design a page that contains great marketing fluff and - for a short period each year - information on how to signup for our programs.  If I could have two layout containers that I could swap in (one with all the signup details and one with a "signup is currently closed"), that would be helpful.  Otherwise, I have to redesign the container each season.

    Admin Response

Sounds like the templates would be a good fit for this. You can create a template in the admin control panel and then apply that to multiple pages right from there. If you need to change those out you can do them in batch from the same location. You keep the templates in place and then just change which pages they are attached to. See this article for more info.

NOTE: Make sure you don't unlink the template!

From what I understand, a template is stuff at the top or bottom of a page.  That's not what I want.

Again, imagine a page like this:

    1. paragraph for intro to travel hockey
    2. information on tryouts
    3. link to registration
    4. link for help

When tryouts are coming (maybe one month per year), that's what the page would look like.  After tryouts are over (so 11 months of the year, I want to replace sections 2&3 as follows:

    1. paragraph for intro to travel hockey
    2. statement that tryouts are over for this season
    3. (no link provided)
    4. link for help

I can certainly edit the page twice a year, putting in and then deleting the content.  But, if I go to some effort to make the information complete and attractive, I have to remember what I did.  In my ideal system, I would like to have this:

    1. paragraph for intro to travel hockey
    2. information on tryout
    3. statement that tryouts are over for this season
    4. link to registration
    5. link for help

And be able to enable/disable each of the blocks.  That way, the content and formatting of blocks 2&3 would not be lost each time.

    Hope that's more clear.
