Allow profile photo to pull into roster list

As a parent, I don't want to have to provide multiple copies of my child's photo so it appears on their team pages. Automatically pull in the photo from their profile instead of requiring it to be created on every team and in every season. However, if the coach enters one for a specific season, then we should prefer that over the default profile one.

As a coach, I want to override the profile photo pull feature because I want my team to look uniform on our roster and I don't want to have Little Timmy holding a soccer ball (which is in his profile photo) on our hockey roster.

Hi Jim, this exists today when using custom roster templates. If you use the standard template today, it will only ever use the roster player photo.

The roster templates have their own issues. Once you assign to a team, it copies the template to everyone on the roster, and then every new roster entry must be manually updated. Also, it still doesn't pull that photo into the roster on the mobile app.

What is needed is a setting on the league where you can select whether you want to pull from the roster or the profile, and make the correct photo show on the web page and in the mobile app.

YES YES YES. To this!  As league admin - I spend way too much time uploading roster photos. As a parent, I am annoyed when their are no pics on the roster and I uploaded a profile pic (what are those profile pics used for anyway?)

The custom roster template alternative requires learning and is frankly not good - just use the existing default roster. Using the app is still a lot of work depending on the size of your league, and requires your teams to be set.

Coaches/Admins don't have time, don't care, or need a SE education to update pics - so EVERY team I have been just a member of ends up with no pics.  If you farm this task out to parents they can do some of the work. Coaches would still have the option to override to give a uniform look if they are willing to do that work.

If you want to drive traffic to SE, you need to give the parents something useful to see. Knowing the other kids on the team and knowing the coaches is useful.  Having the profile pic in roster as default only makes sense.  You also allow parents to pick their "perfect" pic of their kid, and don't have to be pestered with additional re-shoots because their kid decided to stick his tongue out for his pic.

This is an easy solution for all that want to do the minimum and provide great content - while retaining the ability for those that want to customize everything:  win, win.  Make it so!

I also spent the maddening exercise of adding our staff to each team, so they can communicate and manage individual teams on the app ....  Then, I had to upload same photos over and over again for each team - very annoying. Would have been solved by using their default profile pics.  (I'm sure there's a better way to do this, but that's my point - make it easy, then allow customization).
