Calculated field - age (based on birthdate)

It would help tremendously in setting up and maintaining registrations to have a field that can be accessed for conditional rules and for reporting that calculates the person's age based on the birthdate entered.  Ideally it should be able to calculate age as of the current date as well as age as of a fixed date (such as the cutoff date for a season)., returning the value as a numeric field.

We have a lot of validations and conditional display of fields based on the age of the person registering.

I wanted to add a comment for this request as I have been creating registrations with Little League age calculations for a while now.

    I use two questions:

    1) A "League Age Calculator" radio button question that uses the player birthdate to determine age. For example - DOB is greater than or equal to 9/1/2012, and DOB is less than or equal to 8/31/2015. If the DOB falls between these dates - only league age 5 is presented

    2) A Division selection that uses the "calculated" (actually selected) league age and displays only the divisions that player may participate in.

Since I'm copying over my registrations year-over-year, I simply have to modify the ranges for each league age so that they match the little league age chart. After the first one, it's very simple.

This is something available now that we've been using to two years, and anyone can set it up, or ask SE to set it up for your provided you supply the age ranges.

It would be nice for SE to automatically provide these, but it's a challenge because of all the different governing organizations that SE supports along with their (as we've seen in little league) ever changing league age definitions.

I want to concur that having the "league age" as defined by Little League Baseball would be tremendously helpful on our reports.

It would be great to use the calculated age field to determine whether a minor or adult is registering and then it could pull the correct online waiver.

I've been researching COPPA regulations around data privacy, and this would be very helpful for us to conditionally display a warning message and checkbox to explain data privacy policies and rules and provided a checkbox to indicate agreement when the player being registered is under age 13. As it stands, we can't set up a condition that checks for age as of the current date, so we have to set it to be anyone that has a birthday 13 years or less relative to when the registration opens (which will trigger unnecessarily for some players who have since turned 13).

This would be great for Little League Baseball.  I manage the registration for our league and its hard for parents to understand their child's actual age might be 6 but their league playing age is 7.  This would stream line tryouts as well as rostering based on playing ages.

Since their birthdate doesn't change between registrations, make it part of the player's profile instead of part of a single registration event.  You could then use it for sending emails, etc.

I would like to add that this would be a huge help to organizations that I have worked with as well.

Knowing the grade, birthdate and age of the registrant are all excellent data for reporting.  Age especially.
