Registration to Roster

Way behind the times to not have registration records be used for rostering purposes.  To think we have to duplicate a player record from reg to roster ... and download an Excel sheet, re-format, then upload an excel sheet ... is about three steps too many.  All the data collected during the reg process should create a player record that follows the player into the roster process.  Once source of data so we can view their payment history, etc.

I agree and would love to see this as a change.

I would love to see this for basketball as well, it would make it especially easy for those players who play on multiple teams so we do not have to create a profile 2 or more times.

The reverse could also work... add e-mail address to the Excel upload. If the e-mail address is registered then link the roster player to SE account. If the address is not registered, send out an e-mail requesting the player "claim" their registration.

The key is to add the field to the template to permit us to add e-mail address to the information collected (#, first/last name, position, height, weight, e-mail addres).

Please!  It takes me hours to transfer registrations to the rosters even trying to do things in bulk, because the registration export is not even close to being usable for roster import since the formats are radically different.

If you're looking for design ideas, here are a couple:

    1. On a registration form, provide a checkbox saying that you want to add all registrations to the team roster automatically and then prompt with a radio button to select player or coach.  Even better would be to have a tag at the page element level so you could say "if this is selected, add to the player roster" or "if this is selected, add to the coach roster".

    2. On a registration form, have an element you can add that lets the registrant select a team, and select the teams to include similar to the way team buttons are selected.  Even nicer would be to select a league and/or division and associated season/sub-season so that new teams get added to the list of choices automatically. In either case, the teams are automatically linked so there is no confusion about which roster should be updated with each registration.

When is this going to be implemented???  This idea was brought up 2 1/2 years ago - and its something that should have been implemented at product launch.  Whats the delay?  The Current State process for adding players is just about as painful as possible.  Why so painful?  Because I can ask for all of the information that I want (position, GPA, High School Coach, etc) --- but I can't do anything with it within the site.  If I want it to appear on the player's roster page, I have to manually input it.  I should be able to check off whatever questions/answers that were gathered at registration and have them appear as fields on a roster template.  What's the delay??

We have released rostering features on 4/2/18 that seem to accommodate the request.  When rostering, an admin can view up to 3 additional registrations fields to the rostering UI to assist with rostering.  Also, through the use of advanced filters, additional filtering can be done.
