Add instant message feature to mobile app

Since not everyone can get fast access to their emails, sending "messages" from the app is sometimes not fast enough.  having an instant message feature would allow instantaneous communication between manager/coach and team.

How would this work? Since everyone that has the app already get's a 'message' via a push notification when anyone sends them a message. How would an instant message be delivered more quickly?

The messaging feature, as I understand it,  is an email based message.  As such, it has to go between severs to be routed completely to the end user. This takes time.  I know Sport NGIN wished to deliver a product that rivals or beats their competition, and currently there are other apps that have both capabilities.

Steve... are you thinking of a running chat window where comments are "inline" rather than individual messages (which are typically subject based)? Basically like a group message in iOS but confined to the app/team.

I can think of a perfect use for this type of feature - parents and players heading to a game all staying in communication with each other about traffic, games being delayed, where to meet, etc.
