I ask that SportsEngine expand from two levels of organizzing teams to three. Just as Leagues need subdivided into Divisions, sometimes Divisions need subdivided into Conferences. Terminology may vary, as of course the NFL is a league with conferences broken further into divisions, but the added layer would still help some of us tremendously.
In our case, at Rugby Illinois, we have a Boys High School league, a Girls High School league, a Middle School league, and Rookie Rugby league. Each of the leagues are organized slightly differently based on the number of teams and amount of competitive variability. Take the boys high school league. That is broken into three divisions, and each division has between two and four conferences. As it stands now, we have to set up separate leagues for each of the "divisions" because otherwise we couldn't break down into conferences.
This causes problems because you can't move teams or transfer players between leagues, which is understandable, but through promotion and relegation from one season to the next, it is common for a few teams to move between divisions just as sometimes teams will move between conferences to address issues of balance or travel. When a team moves between leagues, it is necessary to create a new team, therefore losing continuity of seasonal history and requiring security to be revised. Similarly when players transfer to another team, instead of just executing a "transfer" to the new team, they must be removed from the old team and added separately to the new team, which causes details to need re-added to the player on the new team instead of moving with the player.
League >> Divisions >> Conferences >> Teams
Of course, some may want to use different names, so allow override of the titles, but there is already a suggestion for that.
